THE APPALACHIAN SERIES

ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT FOR THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, PHILIP HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PHOTOGRAPH THE EPITOME OF THE "HUMAN CONDITION." his images exemplified the effects of POVERTY on FAMILIES IN THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS DURING THE MID-1960S.  

THIS SERIES WAS FEATURED IN AN AWARD-WINNING SPECIAL EDITION OF THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER.
